Does it matter what computer you use for music production?
When you get serious about producing and recording your own music, the stability of your computer and operating system becomes crucial. In other words, your choice of studio computer is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a music producer.
Is 12 cores enough for music production?
Any CPU with at least four cores is good enough for producing music. Another thing to keep in mind is the clock speed of the CPU, it should have a minimum of 2.4 GHz clock speed. The faster clock speed helps in faster rendering of audio files.

My 32 bit Ableton install can run around 128 simultaneous tracks with Impulse as a benchmark and still be under 4GB usage so in that sense it’s overkill. If you went to 64bit Ableton you could obviously quadruple that easily but who on earth is going to run 512 simultaneous tracks of anything.
