Is Brownsea Island open to the public?
Brownsea Island is currently open. To guarantee entry, you must pre-book your admission and ferry via our website. Ferries depart Poole Quay only.
Do you have to pay to get on Brownsea Island?
The island admission and ferry fare is free of charge for under 5s, but you are still required to book a space for them so we can manage numbers on the ferries. The ferry is operated by a third party company, Brownsea Island Ferries.
Can you take a car to Brownsea Island?
Unfortunately there are no public cars allowed on the island and no facility to get them over here. The public car ferry operates between Shell bay on Studland and Sandbanks.
Can you see Corfe Castle without paying?
We climbed up and then noticed that the town is adjacent to the entrance to the castle. You can get close enough for pictures etc. without paying the admission.

Where do you pick up luggage at Brownsea Castle?
Guests will be met on arrival and porterage arranged. It is essential that the Reception Office at Brownsea Castle is informed of your correct time of arrival in advance. Luggage will be taken from the jetty to be collected by guests from the rotunda on the first floor outside the passenger lift.
Do you have to wear a face mask at Poole Castle?
At Poole you will be met at the quayside by a Castle Partner, who will confirm your details and let you know the procedure to follow. Face masks or coverings must be worn throughout your journey. Children under the age of 11 do not have to wear a mask.
