Can you only use Burton bindings on Burton boards?
The Burton EST bindings are made to work exclusively with the channel system. These bindings utilize a screw on the inside and a screw on the outside of the binding which are then screwed directly into the channel. These bindings do not have discs and again are ideal to be used with Burton ICS boards.
How does Burton Channel system work?
The Burton Channel is a mounting system that contains two channels in the board (one for each foot) that run parallel to the edges. Traditional boards have binding inserts where the channel is located. Traditional mounting systems do now allow the board to flex beneath the rider’s feet, creating a “dead spot.”
Are Burton EST bindings worth it?
Don’t buy EST bindings. Unless you are only ever going to ride Burton boards with the channel, or have enough money that you don’t care, just don’t do it. Burton, and other binding companies, make disc/plate bindings with channel discs that work great on their boards.
