How do you unlock characters on CTR?
There are 7 characters in Crash Team Racing that can be unlocked by progressing through the game, each of which we’ve listed below.
- Fake Crash: Earn the Purple Gem in Adventure Mode to unlock.
- Komodo Joe: Defeat Komodo Joe in Adventure Mode to unlock.
- N.
- Nitros Oxide: Defeat Nitros Oxide in Adventure Mode to unlock.
How do you boost in Crash Nitro Kart PS2?
Slide by pressing and holding the top right button – R1 for the PS2 whilst turning. When you do so, your exhaust will eventually turn black. When this happens, press the top left button – L1 in the PS2 version, to boost. Keep sliding all the while and you will be able to do up to 3 boosts altogether.
How do you get CNK in Crash Nitro Kart?
A CNK challenge in Crash Nitro Kart means the player must collect the letters C, N & K and come in first place to win a CNK Token of a specific color. Once all CNK tokens of one color have been collected, the player can enter the corresponding gem cup. For example, collecting all red CNK tokens unlocks the Red Gem Cup.

How do you increase CTR?
Get a Boost at the Start of the Race Like any good kart racer, CTR has a mechanic for getting a boost off the start line. To do it, press the Accelerate Button to rev the engine up so that your exhaust smoke turns black. If it’s black when the race starts, you’ll turbo off the start line!
